Feu d’Artifice in Fontainebleau

DSC_1473Last night, the city of Fontainebleau capped off their Fete de Saint Louis (the Saint Louis Festival) with a great fireworks show behind the chateau. From what we’ve gathered from our neighbors, the festival recognizes one of the first King Louis of France who built part of the Fontainebleau chateau.

In addition to the fireworks, there has been a carnival in town for the past three days complete with bumper cars, carnival games, and my favorite, barbe au papa (cotton candy…which literally translates to “Daddy’s beard” in French).

I’m not sure many INSEAD students knew about why there were fireworks last night…perhaps the new students thought it was just the town’s way of welcoming them to Fontainebleau on their first day at school…but nevertheless, I think everyone enjoyed the show.
