A “Welcome Home” American Barbeque

DSC_1346I’m sorry I’ve been away for awhile. We flew back to the US a week ago and have been busy bopping around in Henry, my Toyota Corrolla, for the past week. It’s so nice to be home.

C. and I had been craving good ol’ American barbeque for months now. My mouth watered when I thought of corn on the cob, and C. missed his favorite Sam Adams Summer beer (photo of a few finished bottles to the left).

So, the night that we arrived, bleary eyed and smelling like airplanes (yuck!), our parents put on a real American summer barbeque for us to welcome us home.

DSC_1342We had barbequed chicken, hamburgers, corn on the cob, baked beans, a fresh tomato and mozzerela salad made with real Jersey tomatoes from my mom’s garden. And for dessert, we had my mom’s homemade keylime pie and decorated sugar cookies made my C.’s sister (see photo to the left).

DSC_1344It was the perfect first meal at home (despite the rain which drew us indoors for dessert), and the perfect way to begin our three week vacation back in the good ol’ U.S. of A.

Traveling around Europe has been amazing, but we didn’t realize until we got home how much we’ve really missed it  here.
