Dancing on my day off

Yesterday was yet another French holiday (Armistice day) and, as a result, I didn’t have class, no one went to work, no stores were open, and everything in town was at a standstill.

….Actually, now that I think about it, that’s a pretty accurate description of about every French town on Sundays and Mondays (except on most Mondays, people go to work. That is, if it’s not one of their innumerable vacation days or if they’re not protesting for some reason).

IMG_2495Since I’m on the topic of protests, I thought I’d mention that it seems like all of Paris is on a protest lately (or, as they call it, a manifestation). Luckily, the protests are small (like the one I took the other day in front of the Panthenon in the photo to the left) and, as a result, are not really disruptive to most people’s commutes or daily lives. But, seriously, give

me a break!

IMG_2497So, instead of having class yesterday, I attended the annual DJ contest at INSEAD where four student DJs show of their best scratching skills for 45 minute sets, and then the students vote who they think should play at the summer ball.

It was a gorgeous day and thanks to the two-for-one happy hour at the bar, everyone seemed to be having a great time (notice us posing for photos with friends in the photo to the left). By the end, we were all dancing in the courtyard to the DJ’s music and getting really excited for the ball in two weeks.
